Application Directions:

1. Surface Preparation: The surface must be dry and free of old finishes in poor condition, paint, wax, grease, polish, dirt, or other foreign matter.   
2. Sanding: Sand to obtain a smooth, uniform surface. Remove all dust with a cloth dampened with mineral spirits.
3. Staining (Optional): If desired, apply Minwax stain to unfinished wood surfaces. Follow directions for application and ensure the stain is completely dry before applying polyurethane.
4. Stir Product: Stir Minwax Fast-Drying Polyurethane thoroughly before and during use to eliminate settling on the bottom of the can. Stir to rotate the product from the bottom to the top of the can. NEVER SHAKE, as this can introduce bubbles.
5. Application: Apply a THIN, even coat of Minwax Fast-Drying Polyurethane using a high-quality natural bristle or foam brush.   
6. Sanding Between Coats: For the smoothest finish, allow the coat to dry as per recoat time, then sand lightly with 220 grit sandpaper or an equivalent fine-grit abrasive. Remove all sanding dust. This step is especially important for floors (using appropriate sanding equipment as directed by the sander manufacturer).
7. Apply Subsequent Coats: Apply a second coat. If a third coat is desired for maximum durability, repeat step 6 before the final application. Most projects benefit from at least two coats; floors often require three.
8. Curing: After the final coat, allow 24 hours before subjecting the surface to light use. Allow more time for heavy use or full cure as per product label (typically 3-7 days).
