This Tint Base provides a Flat finish and features a Zero VOC* formula, mindful of indoor air quality. (Colorants added will increase VOC level)
Please Note: This is a Tint Base (often Deep/Accent Base). It contains minimal white pigment and must be tinted at the point of purchase with colorants to create your desired medium-to-deep or vibrant shade. It cannot be used untinted or for light/pastel colors.
Once tinted, Pro-Hide Gold Ultra delivers a smooth, uniform finish even in darker colors, with consistent application via spray, brush, or roller.Its durable formula provides dependable hide and coverage (multiple coats may be needed for some deep colors) and maintains the line’s renowned excellent touch-up capabilities, crucial for maintaining dramatic color schemes.
Recommended Surfaces: Properly prepared interior walls, trim, and ceilings of previously painted or bare drywall, plaster, masonry, wood, and primed metal. Ideal for accent walls or rooms requiring deep colors.
Surface Preparation: Thoroughly clean the surface and allow it to dry completely. Remove any existing wallpaper and all loose or peeling paint. Scrape and sand damaged paint areas smooth. Ensure glossy surfaces are sanded dull for proper adhesion. Surface smoothness is important for dark flat colors.
Application Instructions: Stir tinted paint thoroughly before and during application. Intermix containers of the same tinted product to ensure color uniformity. Apply only when surface, air, and product temperatures are between 50°F and 90°F (10°C – 32°C). Use a premium-quality brush, a synthetic roller cover (e.g., 3/8″ nap often suitable), or an airless sprayer (Recommended: 2000 PSI, .015″ – .019″ tip). Thinning is not typically required. If rolling, paint the ceiling first, then walls. Work in small sections (approx. 2′ x 2′), applying paint in an “N” pattern, then finish with light, even roller strokes in one direction. Deep or bright colors often require multiple coats (2 or sometimes more) for optimal hide and uniformity.
Clean-up & Disposal: Clean tools and spills immediately with warm, soapy water. Do not pour unused paint down the drain. Consult local authorities for proper disposal and recycling methods.
Q1: What kind of colors is this Tint Base designed for?
This base is formulated for medium, deep, dark, and vibrant colors – shades like navy blue, deep red, forest green, charcoal gray, etc. It has less white pigment, allowing the colorants to achieve full saturation for these richer hues. It must be tinted.
Q2: Will I need more coats of paint when using a deep color from this Tint Base?
It’s common for deep or vibrant colors, especially those tinted from a Tint Base, to require two or sometimes even three coats to achieve full, uniform hide, particularly when painting over a lighter existing color. This product provides good coverage, but plan for multiple coats with deep shades.
Q3: Is touch-up still effective with dark flat colors, which tend to show marks?
While dark flat finishes can be prone to burnishing or showing scuffs more easily, the “excellent touch-up” quality of Pro-Hide Gold Ultra is specifically designed to minimize the visibility of these repairs. Using the correct technique and the original paint batch (or a perfect match) is key for seamless touch-ups.
